2005 Graduation

Graduate
Center
for Public Policy and Management (GCPPM) presented its first class of graduates. The Graduation ceremony was held at the
Macedonian
Academy
of Sciences and Arts in
Skopje
. Family members, friends, professors, GCPPM students as well as representatives from the Government of the
Republic
of
Macedonia
, the United States Embassy and distinguished guests from the public and private sector attended the Ceremony.
The Female Choir “Rustico” opened the ceremony with the Macedonian and American National Anthems, Alma Mater - Anthem of the
University
of
Pittsburgh
and the international student hymn “Gaudeamus Igitur”.
Dr. William Dunn, Professor and Director of GCPPM, in this commencement address, emphasized: “This event is an opportunity to share with you the vision and passion that drives our efforts since 1992. Today, same as then, we see the Center as an opportunity to participate in the future of
Macedonia
, to use the best possible intellectual resource to follow the road to administrative reforms, economic and social development…”
Dr. Carolyn Ban, Dean of the
Graduate
School
for Public and International Affairs at
University
of
Pittsburgh
made a special trip to attend the first commencement ceremony in
Skopje
. She gave the special “Award for Civic Leadership” to Mr. Svetozar Janevski, Member of the Board of the “Pittsburgh Foundation”.
The seventeen graduates of the two programs Masters of Public Policy and Management and Certificate in Public Policy and Management received their diplomas. Dr. David Miller, Co-Director of GCPPM and Associate Dean of GSPIA presented the “Student of the Year” award to Mr. Bekim Ymeri for his academic excellence and outstanding performance during the past two years.
At the reception that followed the students and their guests shared their joy, experiences and confidence that there will be many future experts in the field of public policy and business educated at the GCPPM.
